In the land of Lord Buddha
Venu Vana Vihar is another place of interest. It was built by Bimbisar for Lord Buddha to live. We also made a trip to the hot spring, which is another Rajgir attraction.

Nalanda, situated about 15 km from Rajgir, was one of the world's first residential universities. We hired a vehicle to take us to the place, but it would not go near the ruins of Nalanda. You have the choice of either walking down some distance or taking a tonga. The place was full of tourists, mainly from Japan and Sri Lanka.
Street hawkers lined up on both sides of the road that leads to the ruins of Nalanda. The area has a rustic touch, but once we entered the sprawling complex it was a different atmosphere altogether.
