For those who are bothered less about brands and more about a watch's appearance, you need to know that the funky look is where it's at right now! If the dial is uniquely shaped, sports the image of a cartoon character, or is unusual in any sense of the word, consider it a style statement! Leather straps are in too -- pick a watch with crocodile leather straps if you want a more chic finish.
Unisex watches usually come in shades of red and black -- pick one that catches your eye. If you're more the outdoorsy type, pick a timepiece that is water-resistant upto 30 or 40 meters.
Finally, before purchasing a watch for yourself, check the back of the dial to see whether it has a steel or a brass base. The brass back of a watch will usually fade over a period of time, because of constant contact with the sweat from your wrist. Preferably, choose a steel-backed wrist watch.
