Breathtaking views

Dodabetta Peak (2,623 m) is the highest point in the district. Located about 10 km from the Ooty, it offers beautiful views of the Nilgiri hills.

Wellington and Coonoor

If you are looking to get away from touristy Ooty, make a trip to Wellington, a quaint little town just 15 km from Ooty. The headquarters of the Madras Regiment and the Madras Regimental Centre and the Defense Service Staff College are located here.

Other places of interest in and around Ooty are the Kalhatty falls, Kandal cross shrine, Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary and national park and the Pykara falls.

You can even include a visit to a tea plantation and, if possible, a tea factory in your itinerary. Apart from going on long walks and treks, you can try your hand at trout fishing in the Avalanche and Sandinalla lakes, golfing at the Ooty Golf Club, gliding at Kalhatty Ghats and of course boating/ horse riding in/ around the lake.
