'12 kilos lighter in one month'

August 2, 2007
Get Ahead reader Vijay Prakash from Bangalore shares his gruelling weight loss regime:

I was martial arts player 10 years back and after leaving regular excercise I got fat and used to feel uncomfortable after lunch or dinner since I am very fond of eating good food.

After realising that I should lose weight, I began doing yoga and pranayam as suggested by Baba Ramdav (although I don't listen to most of the 'babas' on TV, after seeing the benefits of Ramdev's asanas I gave it a try).

My schedule in that period:
Excercise: 1 hour in the morning including asana, pranayam, free hand aerobics
Breakfast: Juice of cucumber and orange
Lunch: Only chapatis with dal (no spices). Just one chapati short of my regular diet with lots of green salad
Dinner: Same as lunch with milk after one hour

Precautions:
No cold drinks and no junk food.
Drink plenty of water through the day, but after one hour of eating lunch or dinner.
Always take curd in afternoon not night.
No spices, non-veg, hard drinks
Only 1 cup of tea in the morning

Now, I am fighting fit at 75 kg and standing 6 ft tall. I still control my diet but not as much as during that one month.

Though the regime I followed is hard, it is not impossible.
