Be kind to your body

September 11, 2006
Behind those flawless magazine spreads and catwalk poses are some pretty uncomfortable experiences. "Be preapared for 'physical abuse' -- your hair constantly being tugged at, your foot squished into small shoes," says Deepika. Besides this, it's not a nine to five job; late nights and early mornings are part of your routine. You may also have to travel constantly.

Deepika says she's lucky to have an athletic build, but still works out at the gym as often as possible. "I go as often as possible to get my cardio circulation going and stay toned. I don't drink or smoke. I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing, but I don't because it will affect my health," she says.

"Everyone in my family has good skin. It's in my genes. It's important to understand your skin and not fidget with it too much," she adds. "Take off all your make-up before going to bed; your skin needs to breathe. If you have oily skin, dab it at intervals. Also, drink lots of water."
