I want to look like Kareena

In India, especially in Mumbai, clothing styles and trends are influenced by what actors and actresses wear in the latest hit movie.

Remember the white-netted cloth hair clip from the film Aashiqui and the white and green coloured sharara seen at every wedding after Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! And every other guy in Mumbai was flashing the Salman-cut (haircut) from Tere Naam.

Though Bollywood has great influence on the clothes that hit the street, Bollywood styles are not really 'fashion'. You should be very careful about what you choose to imitate from the movies.

Keep in mind that the styles and trends depicted in most movies are overstated and tend to be a bit loud and extravagant. In recent times, however, there have been movies where the stars have worn contemporary clothes -- like Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan in Salaam Namaste.

Individuality is a key part of being fashionable.

"Don't buy clothes just because your favourite star wore them in some movie. Always choose clothes that suit you," recommends Manish Kelshikar.
