Reinvent yourself!

Achla-speak: It is simple to give yourself a makeover. With the media giving us a constant feed as to the latest, chicest and hottest trends and products, it doesn't take much effort for you to increase your awareness level.

Work at understanding what suits your body, personality and lifestyle. Experiment with the different styles, colours and cuts in fashion to cover up your flaws and highlight your assets.

Kitsch or elegant?

Achla-speak: When it comes to the current style trends in hair and clothes, hair colour is the biggest rage, while 'tonged' hair (creating curls using curling tongs) rules.

Straight hair comes in at second place.

In terms of attire, not everyone can carry off the 'kitsch' look, while elegant and classic styles like blue jeans teamed with a dressy top, good shoes, a bag and a belt always rule in my book.

In the end, style is all about how you 'put it together'.

Style Icons

Achla-speak: Keep an eye out for model Deepika Padukone. She's got her style fundas right!

On Bollywood style

Achla-speak: The current crop of actresses lack individual style and, with only a handful of designers servicing the industry, they look like near clones of each other.

Among the current Bollywood stars, Bipasha Basu -- with her glam and effortless style -- is a worthy style icon.

Another Bollywood feature I don't quite like is the ample show of skin. Though I don't mind showing a little skin myself, this trend in Bollywood has gotten far too loud!

Fashion gaffes

Achla-speak: Most Indian women are terrible when it comes to choosing lipstick colours.

Your lips are a very visible feature of your face, and ought to be given due importance. So take time out to figure what colours suit your complexion and personality.
