Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This, the first musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, came from the Biblical story of Joseph. It was first presented in the form of a cantata that lasted 20 minutes but, thanks to its success, led the duo to release a small album of the show in 1969.

Interestingly, the album didn't do well until Webber and Rice released Jesus Christ Superstar, which was a hit. Its success helped them produce Joseph at a professional level on Broadway in 1982. It stayed there for 747 performances!
