Perizaad Zorabian may not have the most happening career in Bollywood. But she has stolen a march over Aishwarya Rai. While Ash's international films are yet to take off, Perizaad has already landed in London to begin shooting for an international movie.

Mind Gamez, a British thriller to be directed by Laurens Postma, will co-star the legendary Malcolm MacDowell (A Clockwork Orange).

"I didn't know Malcolm was part of the cast," Perizaad says excitedly. "I thought it would be another British actor. I have not watched any of his films, but that's a conscious decision. I do not want to be intimidated by him. You will never be afraid of what you don't know! Besides, my character can't afford to be scared."

Perizaad plays Raveena, a Miss India, who "takes you for a ride."

"My character is driven, powerful, who meets Malcolm head on." she says. "The script is written so clearly. All I am thinking now is: Will I be able to deliver?

Malcolm plays Percy, a powerful businessman, who has immense control over people. "He is one of those company heads who judge beauty pageants. That is how we meet. But my character does not get intimidated by him."

She was not sure if she would get the part. Perizaad is only five feet four inches and "I thought they may need someone taller."

So she worked hard to tone her body to look "slim and sexy."

"I had to lose weight. I am not plump, I am actually quite curvy. But I had to lose that and become more toned."

"India is happening now," declares the New York-trained actress. "Bombay Dreams has reached Broadway! Besides, Miss Indias have an aura around them. Other beauty queens like Miss Venezuela look docile. Indian women come across as hard-edged and focussed. Like Sushmita Sen. I can say my character would be an equivalent to Sushmita."

Shooting for the film begins on September 4.

Back home, Perizaad has Mahesh Dattani's Morning Raaga and Bappaditya Bandhopadhy's Devki. "I want to do commercial films but I don't want to compromise. I deserve something good but producers here don't see me as the typical Bollywood actress."
