Beauty at a price

Madhuri Emami Limited, the cosmetic giant, has planned a Rs 200 million extravaganza for the mega-launch of its 'Madhuri Dixit range' of products.

Madhuri was signed on about a year and a half ago for Rs 50 million to promote its products.

The company worked closely with the actress, presently in US, and a team led by Alyque Padamsee, for the big show planned in December 2001.

All the right connections

Govinda You can't accuse Govinda of not being politically conscious.

After all, he's just signed on for the Smita Thackeray produced Hum Do Hamara Ek.

And Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was present to sound the clapper board for the film. Chi Chi sure seems to be making the right connections.

Nandy-Bhatt -- Talent promoters and co

Mahesh Bhatt Pritish Nandy and Mahesh Bhatt have come together to promote young directorial talent by producing five commercial films directed by novices.

Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd and Vishesh Entertainment will produce five films meant for mainstream commercial distribution.

The films will feature popular cine personalities and the music of mainstream music directors. The directors names and production details would be announced in a month time, said Bhatt, chairman of Vishesh Entertainment.

Jandhyala, RIP

Renowned Telugu filmmaker and script writer J V D S Sastry, better known as Jandhyala, whose rib-tickling comedies earned him a special place in Telugu tinsel world, expired on Tuesday following a heart attack.

He had penned scripts for about 400 films including the block-busters -- Sankarabharanam, Adaviramudu and Anandabhairavi.

Teaching 'em a thing or two

Tusshar Feroz Khan of Tumhari Amrita fame is teaching young freshers the ropes in acting. He recently coached Tusshar Kapoor and Diya Mirza.

Vashu Bhagnani is mighty pleased with his work and might do a film with Feroz, which the latter has been longing for.
