Chasing Vijayakanth
Interview over, we decided to follow him farther, and his next stop was Kanavai, a small village of only 800 people. It seemed the entire village had assembled there.
As Vijayakanth rose up to speak, a photographer tried to get on top of his vehicle to take a close up shot. Vijayakanth's private security men would have none of it, and they asked the photographer to move away. Soon, we were witness to a scuffle between the journalists and the security guards with the police trying to play peacekeepers.
A disturbed Vijayakanth stopped for a while and then started speaking to the villagers. Somehow, the villagers were least interested in the verbal duel; they simply ignored the fight and chose to listen to their Captain!
The local journalists following Vijaykanth decided to boycott his tour and went back.
