The BSP leader, Mayawati, also finds a mention in the list of prominent losers even though she did not personally contest the election.

In the general election early this year, the BSP had caused a dent in the Congress numbers by eating a lot of votes in Vidarbha region.

This time it fielded candidates in as many as 272 seats, but failed to make any impact.

Obviously, the dalits were not impressed.
