Australia are 9 for 1 at close on Day 1 of the 5th and final Test at the SCG on Friday.

Australia trail India by 176 runs.

The slow over-rate meant we only got through 75.2 overs but the wicket has bounce and the batters, particularly Pant copped a few body blows.

India's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah took out Khawaja in the third over of Australia's innings as the batter gets the outside edge playing off the backfoot and caught at slips out for 2.

Earlier, India were all out for 185 on the opening day of the fifth and final Test against Australia.

India, who recovered to 107 for 4 at tea, lost six wickets for 78 runs in the final session.

Rishabh Pant (40 off 98) top-scored for India while Scott Boland was the pick of the Australia bowlers.

Bumrah induces a big outside edge off Khawaja's bat and Rahul takes a good catch at slips as Australia lose the first wicket. Khawaja made to play with a superb length ball and Australia end the day with a wicket down.

Siraj opens at the other end and Khawaja calls for the run and then sends him back. Konstas makes it and they get a single off overthrows. The third umpire is called in to  check the run out and he is safe.

Konstas then takes a single to the off side.

Khawaja is then squared up as he defends off the fuller length and he is beaten on the outside edge.

Khawaja then lets the next one go.

Siraj continues to keep it full and Khawaja then blocks the next ball for a dot.

Khawaja then plays and misses the ball on the leg side as he attempts a glance. A dot  to end the over as 2 come off it.

Bumrah opens the attack for India while Konstas and Khawaja open the batting for Australia and Konstas comes charging first ball and chips it over mid-wicket for a four.

A dot later, Konstas takes a single to fine leg.

Khawaja gets hit on his knuckles first ball as Bumrah bangs it in. The physio checks on him.

Khawaja seems in a bit on distress and the physio tapes his index finger.

Khawaja is good to go and the next ball he plays to the leg side to get off the mark.
