Santner stars with 13-wicket haul as India lose by 113 runs

India lost their first Test series at home in 12 years as New Zealand inflicted a humiliating 113-run defeat in the second Test taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Left arm spinner Mitchell Santner starred for the visitors with a 13-wicket haul.
Chasing 359 to win, India resumed the third session at 178/7 but lost their remaining three wickets -- Ravichandran Ashwin (18), Akash Deep (1) and Ravindra Jadeja (42) to get all-out for 245 in 60.2 overs, marking their first home Test series defeat since the 1-2 reversal against Alastair Cook-led England in the 2012-13 season.
New Zealand, having won the opening match by 8 wickets, celebrated their first-ever series victory in India since touring the country in 1955-56 under Harry Cave.
Once again, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner (6/104) was instrumental in India's downfall, leaving the hosts struggling at 178 for seven at tea. Santner had taken seven for 53 in the first innings.
Needing 181 runs to win, Jadeja added 39 with Ashwin and 23 with Akash before becoming the last man to fall.
Earlier, India made a confident start to their chase, led by a conditions-defying 77 from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal off just 65 balls. He shared a 62-run partnership for the second wicket with Shubman Gill (23), but the hosts squandered the opportunity.
In the morning session, the Kiwis were bowled out for 255 in their second innings after resuming from 198 for five.
Ajaz continues and Jadeja takes a couple before he goes for the big one only to hole out to long on and he is out for 42. India all out for 245.
Santner continues and Jadeja reverse sweeps the ball to third man for a couple.

Jadeja pulls the next one for a dot. After another dot, Jadeja clips the ball to the leg side for a single.
Bumrah then goes on his knee and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket for a six!

Ajaz is back in the attack and Akash starts with a dot.
Akash then takes a quick single to mid-off and gets off the mark after 23 balls.
A dot later, Jadeja comes down the ground and slaps it to long on for a single.
Akash then just hits it straight to mid-on and is holed out. He is out for 1 and India lose 9th wicket.
Santner continues and Jadeja is happy to just defend. Three dots later, he cuts the ball down to third man for a couple.
Two dots to end the over as just 2 come off it.
Phillips continues and after a dot, Jadeja gets a single.
Akash Deep plays the ball back to the bowler for a dot, who takes it on the bounce.
Two dots later, he gets a life as the keeper fails to get to the ball and that can be counted as a drop. Just the single comes off it.
