India eye 2-0 lead vs South Africa
November 10, 2024 18:56Sanju Samson will look to extend his dominance in the second T20I against South Africa in Gqeberha, but India needs more consistency from its top order.
Samsons explosive 107 off 50 balls powered India to a 61-run win in the opener, yet contributions from other batters remain a concern. Opener Abhishek Sharmas recent struggles, coupled with quick cameos from Tilak Varma, have underscored the need for stability. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also need to build on their starts to prevent middle-order collapses like Indias six-wicket loss for 36 runs in the first match.
Indias bowling attack, led by Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, was in superb form, restricting South Africa to 141 with tight spin bowling and solid pace support from Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. Confident in their bowling, India will aim for a 2-0 lead in the series.
For South Africa, missing key players like Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi, this second T20I is a tough challenge.
With recent series struggles, including a 0-3 loss to West Indies and a draw against Ireland, South Africa will rely heavily on senior players Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaasen to bounce back.
