West Indies have dominated the opening day of the third Test.

At stumps, the visitors have made 267 for two, with Kirk Edwards on 65 and Darren on 57 not out, the duo having put on 117 runs for the third wicket.

R Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of two for 86 in what was otherwise a vapid display by the home bowlers.

In the final analysis, Darren Sammy's decision to bat first had been vindicated by his batsmen.

Rahul Dravid has dropped a second one at first slip. Darren Bravo, on 33, is the beneficiary. Ojha is the bowler suffering from Dravid's blemish on this occasion.

The new ball is taken after 84.3 overs, with West Indies at 245 for two.

Bravo carries on his good form, completing his sixth Test fifty with a boundary off Ishant. It is his third half-century against India and a perfect follow-up to his 136 in the second innings at Eden Gardens.

The young batsman, along with Erdwards, have also put on a 100-plus partnership for the third wicket.

West Indies 254 for two with three overs in the day left to be played.

The latter has registered his third half century, his second against India after his 60 at Eden Gardens.

West Indies 227 for two.

The loss of the two openers in quick succession has predictably pegged back the visitors.

Meanwhile, the turnout in Wankhede is as bad as Eden, if not worse. Even the pricing of tickets for less than a dollar didn't work.

In fact, as I was coming to the venue this morning a school kid asked, "What match is being played?" Considering cricket is a religion in this country, the question was a bit surprising, I must admit.

West Indies 166 for two.

India has managed a good fightback in the second session, courtesty Ashwin's twin strikes.

At tea, West Indies has made 161 for two (61 overs). Kirk Edwards is unbeaten on 13 and Darren Bravo is four not out.

Ashwin has been the pick of Indian bowlers with figures of two for 64.

Kirk Edwards has come in to replace Barath.

Ashwin, however, ensures India a second wicket by having Kraigg Brathwaite (68) caught by Kohli at short leg.

Brathwaite's 184-ball knock was inclusive of eight hits to the fence.

Darren Bravo comes out to bat. India have now got rid of both the openers and sense an opening here.

West Indies reduced to 150 for two.

Kraigg brathwaite gets a reprieve at 54, when Laxman puts him down at short-leg, Ashwin being the unlucky bowler.

The following delivery the batsman survives a loud leg before appeal, replays clearly indicating the ball had hit outside off.

However, Ashwin eventually provides India the breakthrough when he has Barath caught by his captain.

Barath's 148-ball 62 was inclusive of eight hits to the fence and he put on 137 for the opening wicket with Brathwaite (61 not out).
