It was Tuffey's only wicket of the innings; he was smashed for 68 runs off his 10 overs.
Paceman Mark Gillespie and spinner Jeetan Patel both finished with two wickets each but conceded 83 and 70 respectively from their 10 overs after New Zealand's two main strike bowlers Shane Bond and Daniel Vettori were rested.
