Waqar bids farewell

Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis retired from all forms of cricket.

'I could have played cricket for another year,' Waqar, 32, told a news conference, 'but I've lost the hunger.'

He took 416 wickets in 262 One-Day Internationals and ended a 15-year career with 373 Test wickets.

Waqar, who was known for his toe-crushing yorkers, formed one of the most lethal fast bowling combinations ever with left-arm paceman Wasim Akram, who retired last year.

'I think our rivalry was healthy for Pakistan,' he said of the legend with whom he reportedly had a turbulent relationship. 'More than 50 per cent of my wickets came because of Wasim at the other end. He was a big help and shared a lot of burden.'
