When Veeru ruled Multan

Virender Sehwag unburdened the ambition of a cricket nation when he added an Indian name to the list of triple Test centurions.

The cavalier right-hander opened India's Test campaign against Pakistan in Multan with a record-breaking 309.

He tread cautiously past 280, but all the pent-up aggression was released when he skipped down the pitch and hammered Saqlain Mushtaq into the stands to bring up his triple century with his sixth six.

Sehwag became the highest individual scorer for India, surpassing V V S Laxman's 281 against Australia.

'I never believed when people said my technique was flawed,' Veeru said. 'I am comfortable with it and I don't care what they suggest I can do. See, I got a 300 with my flawed technique.'

Sehwag also got married later that month to sweetheart Aarti Ahlawat.
