Somdev Devvarman put up a good fight before going down to Ryan Sweeting of the United States in the first round of the Los Angeles International on Monday.
The 26-year-old Indian ace, who lost to Mardy Fish in the quarter-finals at Atlanta last week, was beaten 4-6, 6-7(6) in 112 minutes.

Seeded seventh, she went down to unseeded Stephanie Dubois of Canada, 5-7, 4-6.
