It was mixed fortunes for India on the fourth day at Wimbledon on Thursday.

Somdev Devvarman's luck ran out in the second round.

The Indian No.1, who had benefitted from his opponent's withdrawal in the opening round, proved no match for Mikhail Youzhny.

The Russian comfortably won the encounter 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 in just under two hours.

Earlier in the day Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, seeded fourth, lost 2-6, 6-2, 21-19 to the Colombian pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in a titanic opening round slugfest.

Sania Mirza though ensured there was something to cheer for the Indian fans when she, along with her Russian partner Elena Vesnina, advance to the second round.

The duo, seeded fourth, scored a comfortable 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win over the Russian-American combine of Anna Chakvetadze and Melanie Oudin.
