Sports stars around the world joined in the celebrations of the New Year and took to social media to wish their fans and followers a Happy New Year.
Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar spent Christmas and New Year in the small hill town of Mussoorie with wife Anjali and children Arjun and Sara.
Tendulkar celebrated New Year's Day feasting on bun omelets, paratha, curd and pickle. He tweeted with a picture, “Happy New Year! Breakfast at Chaar Dukaan, Mussoorie. Had amazing bun omelette and parathas with dahi and pickle.”
India’s new cricket captain Virat Kohli crossed 5 million followers and tweeted, “Wow that was a quick ride to 5 million! Great start for the New Year. Thank you all for making it possible.”
India’ tennis sensation Sania Mirza was in Australia too with her husband and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. She tweeted, “Here we go.. Off to Brisbane… Happy new year to u guys.. Love and happiness.”
Malik is also due to play for Hobart Hurricanes in Australia's ongoing Big Bash Twenty20 league.
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo tweeted with the picture of his son, “Hey guys, 2014 was great! Hope 2015 will be amazing for all. Happy New Year!”
Golf star Rory McIlroy has enjoyed the form of his life and he also posted a picture saying, “Happy New Years everyone!! Here's to a great 2015.”
Australian spin legend Shane Warne enjoys a colourful life and it was evident with his Instagram pictures.
The former cricketer was seen in superman costume with models Rosanna Faraci and Kirsty Lee who were dressed as Cat Woman and Wonder Woman respectively. Warne tweeted, “Kaos tonight!!! Lucky I have Cat woman Rosanna Faraci and Wonder Woman Kirsty Lee keeping me safe! Happy New Year.”
Tennis stars Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were also marking the New Year, with the Spaniard wearing a glittery hat while eating a plate of grapes in a picture posted on his Facebook page.
