WATCH: Sushma's fiery remarks to Pakistan on NSA-level talks

August 23, 2015 16:45 IST

On Saturday, even as the sparring over the agenda of the National Security Advisor-level talks continued, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held a press conference, during which she cleverly drew the red lines for Pakistan over the NSA-level talks without unilaterally calling off the meeting.

Without mincing her words, Swaraj told Pakistan, “If they are willing to come, we welcome them but we want an assurance from Pakistan that talks will only be on terror and the NSA will not meet the Hurriyat.”

Sushma was deft, accurate and clear in her message. There was no tripping her up even as journalist threw a volley of questions at her.

Later in the night, Pakistan called of the talks, citing that it could not abide by the ‘preconditions set by India.’
