Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has been chosen to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party in the forthcoming Karnataka elections. Member of Parliament and senior BJP leader Prahlad Joshi informed reporters in Bangalore that Shettar would the leader of the party.

However, there was some trouble at a BJP meet held in Bangalore with 25 MLAs abstaining from the meeting. They were upset over the candidature of Shettar.
However, the BJP downplayed the incident and said that not all of them were invited for the meeting.

Meanwhile, former Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa has said that a decision on whether to pull down the BJP government or not will be taken only on January 15. Although Friday's Karnataka Janata Party meeting was a damp squib he is still confident that 30 MLAs from the BJP would join him as the elections approach.
