According to an official source, Rabi Basumatary, the driver who was also abducted by banned United Liberation Front of Asom militants from the heart of Guwahati, was found by the police in the city on Sunday night.

The police immediately swung into action and took the driver to undisclosed locations in search of the kidnapped FCI official.

The police suspected that the official might have been taken across the border to Bhutan through Baksa district of Assam by the ULFA ultras.

The police earlier recovered the official vehicle of the FCI official from Rangiya on Wednesday.

While police claim that the banned ULFA slammed a Rs 21 crore ransom demand for release of the FCI official, the family of the Dr Ram had been denying receiving any such demand from the abductors.
