Ten people have died and more than 600,000 dislocated in the flood that has overrun 17 of the 24 districts in Assam over the last four days.
The Assam government put the number of displaced people at 6,41,708.
Brahmaputra and its tributaries -- Burhidihing, Jia Bharali, Beki, Katakhal, Kushiara, Kapili, Sonkoch and Puthimari -- are flowing above the danger level at many places.
Incessant rain disrupted road communication between Samarajan and Dhemaji town and between Lakhipur and Jaleswar in Goalpara district. The Jiadhal tributary changed its course and caused two breaches in Kekuri and Bhojugaon, a government bulletin said.
The local administration has set up 12 camps to shelter 550 affected families in Lakhipur Circle, the bulletin said. Erosion at places in Nalbari and Morigaon districts is still continuing, while in Barpeta district the situation has improved. In Jorhat district, road communication has been disrupted in three places.
