Three-time National Award winner Urvashi Sarada makes a comeback to Malayalam films in director Jayaraj's Nayika (Heroine).

She plays the role of a famous actress of an earlier era. The cast also includes Jayaram, Mamta Mohandas and Padmapriya.

"Nayika is the story of a heartthrob from the past named Gracy who ruled the screen for a while and later disappeared from the scene. A young filmmaker Aleena (Mamta Mohandas) unveils the mysteries in her life through a documentary," says Jayaraj.

Jayaram plays the role of a hero from the past named Anand, while Padmapriya plays the young Gracy and Siddique plays the role of a studio owner named Stephen muthalali.

"The
efforts have been to bring back memories of those old times in the minds of viewers. Urvashi Sarada was not accepting any offers but she was so excited when she heard the subject, that here she is, facing the camera," adds Jayaraj.

"I am delighted to be back in a Malayalam film, which is like my home. I started my career shooting in Alappuzha and it is wonderful to be back here after so many years," Urvashi says.

The scenarist of the film is Deedi Damodaran.

Produced under the banner of Makeeram Creations, Nayika has Sinu Murikkumpuzha behind the camera, and lyrics by Sreekumaran Thampi set to music by M K Arjunan.
