Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza barely has time to take a breather to enjoy the huge success of ABCD 2.

While his newest film is still going strong in theatres, Remo is already busy planning his next film in the ABCD franchise.

“I think Siddharth Roy Kapur (producer, Disney India) is planning a party. I am now thinking about the next ABCD film,” Remo informs, adding, “Yes , we are now planning ABCD 3. All we know at this point in time is that it has to be even bigger, in every sense, than ABCD 2

“When we had decided to do a sequel we had to make sure it was several times ahead of the first film. One has to keep taking the franchise forward. Or else there is no point in doing sequels.”

Remo feels proud to have revived the dance genre in Bollywood.

“Before ABCD came along, dance films had ceased to exist for the longest time.

“I would excitedly go to see so-called dance films, only to find they had very little to do with dancing. According to me the real dance films in Hindi cinema were V Shantaram’s Navrang, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje and Jal Bin Machli Nritya Bin Bijli.”

Unlike Bollywood's other choreographer-turned-director, Farah Khan, Remo says he will continue to choreograph songs for other filmmakers while directing feature films.

But the assignments will now be selective.

“I will only be choreographing for filmmakers when I think I can so something special with a song. I am doing a song in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale because I’ll get to work with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for the first time.”
