Along with performing his duties as the Censor Board chief, the filmmaker took out time to record a song for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Written by well known Muslim lyricist Hina Khan and composed by Ishwar Kumar, the song is titled Mera desh hai mahaan mera desh hai jawaan.
The song was recorded over the past week at Kailash Studios in Mumbai and addresses the country's youth as the architects of Modi’s dream India.
According to sources, Nihalani aims to pitch the song as an anthem for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Nihalani would rather not talk about his musical project.
“I don’t want it to seem like I am using the Prime Minister’s name to leverage it.
“The fact is, the song has been in the making for many months now. We wanted a song that would epitomise Modiji’s dream of a New India. Our aim is to make sure that the songs play in every Indian house,” he explains.
