The latest buzz doing the rounds is that Karan Johar will recreate the magic of Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani in Hindi.

The film will be directed by Shaad Ali, a former associate of Mani Ratnam. Shaad had previously directed Saathiya, the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil blockbuster Alai Payuthey.

Karan confirmed this news on his Twitter page: 'Honoured to collaborate with Mani Ratnam on the recreation of his labour of love....directed by Shaad Ali.'

O Kadhal Kanmani, which released in 2015, was a light-hearted entertainer that dealt with contemporary romance and relationships. The film starred Malayalam actors Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen.

AR Rahman composed the music for the film.

The Hindi film is yet to be titled, but Karan has already chosen his lead pair: the Aashiqui 2 couple, Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.

'Mani Ratnam...Gulzarsaab...AR Rahman...Shaad and us present ADITYA ROY KAPUR and SHRADDHA KAPOOR in the official recreation of #okkanmani,' Karan Johar added on Twitter.

Reports claim that the screenplay will be co-written by Mani Ratnam and Shaad and the film is expected to go on floors early this year.
