Hugo, Martin Scorsese's 3D ode to early days of cinema, is finally making its way to Indian screens on May 4.
The film, which released in the US in November last year and went on to nab 11 nominations and five trophies at the Oscars this year, is being released in India by Viacom18.
Based on Brian Selznick's novel
The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the film narrates the astonishing adventure of a boy who
lives between the walls of a Paris station. He is on a quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father.
It is first 3D and family film for Scorsese, who is a cult figure in direction with his masterpieces like
Taxi Driver,
Raging Bull,
Goodfellas and
The Departed.
The film has been long awaited in India.
Hugo will be the third blockbuster Hollywood release for Viacom 18 Motion Pictures after
Transformer 3 and
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol of 2011.
