Director Lal Jose narrates the escapades of a mimicry artiste who illegally migrates to Spain, in his latest Malayalam film titled
Spanish Masala.
Dileep plays the hero, with Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon also in the cast. Daniela Zacherl, an Austrian-born dancer, plays the heroine.
"It has been really tough shooting for this film but at the same time it was an enjoyable ride," says Lal Jose, who has directed some well appreciated films like
Oru Maravathoor Kanavu,
Meesa Madhavan,
Chanthupottu,
Classmates, Arabikkatha and
Neelatharama.
The
film has been shot extensively in Spain. The well-known Tomatina festival, bull fighting, and flamenco dancing add the necessary local colour.
Benny P Nayarambalam, who wrote the script, says the film is not just a full-fledged comedy. "There is a genuine story that we are narrating here," he says.
The cinematographer is Loganathan and the music director is Vidyasagar.
Spanish Masala, produced by Noushad, was originally scheduled for a November release and has now been postponed to December.
