Sathyan Anthikkad, who is known for his earthy, feel-good stories, says: "I am fine if people comment that I am making films for family audiences only. I am really happy about the recent experiments like Traffic and Salt N' Pepper which were successful in Malayalam.
But there are so many stories that need to be told like the one that I have made now and I would like to make such films as viewers love such clean entertainers as well."

Anthikad likes stories that are simple and are mostly about closely knit families and human relationships.
"Snehaveedu focuses on Ajayan (Mohanlal) and the affection that he shares with his mother, Ammukkuttiyamma (Sheela). They live in a village in Palakkad, where Ajayan runs a small factory.
He has worked in the Gulf and Chennai before coming back home. He is a chronic bachelor who brags to his friends about his flings with women when he was in Chennai. But things take a sudden twist when a young boy (Rahul Pillai) comes to the village one day claiming that he is Ajayan's son.
When he disowns the boy, no one including his mother is ready to believe Ajayan," says the director.
