Box Office: Great Grand Masti opens poorly

The hits and misses of the week.

Like Vivek Oberoi said at a press conference recently, piracy killed his latest film, Great Grand Masti. The film opened poorly at the box office, as it had been leaked 17 days before its scheduled release date.

Salman Khan's Sultan, on the other hand, is a superhit.

Trade analyst Vinod Mirani gives us the weekly box office verdict.

 

Great Grand Masti

Cast:  Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Urvashi Rautela.

Director: Indra Kumar.

What works: A few comic gags.

What doesn't: Over-the-top performances, sloppy script.

Number of weeks: New.

BO verdict: Poor.

What works: Salman Khan.

What doesn't: Predictable climax, film is too long at nearly three hours running time.
