The new season of Bigg Boss, with all the twists and some interesting contestants, promises a lot of entertainment, feels Namrata Thakker.
The 14th season of everyone's favourite reality show Bigg Boss has arrived ,but the grand premiere hardly lived up to expectations.
It started with host Salman Khan making a smashing entry with a hammer.
But this time, there was no audience hooting and cheering for him.
Following the new normal, the Bigg Boss studio has no live audience.
Instead, fans joined their favourite host virtually.
Former Bigg Boss contestants -- Gauahar Khan, Sidharth Shukla and Hina Khan -- make a comeback as the Toofani Seniors.
They will not only entertain the audience, but also make life harder for the celeb contestants.
But they will not be playing the game and will leave the house after two weeks.
They have been given special powers and if the contestants want to ensure their stay on the show, they have to listen to the seniors.
Salman warmly greets Gauahar, Sidharth and Hina on the Bigg Boss stage, maintaining social distance.
Then the contestants start arriving, starting with Eijaz Khan and Nikki Tamboli.
While the former comes across as mature and strong-headed, the latter reminds us of Shehnaaz Gill courtesy her funny antics.
The Toofani seniors have to select or reject the contestants and they decide to keep both.
The next to arrive is television actress Rubina Dilaik and her husband Abhinav Shukla. They are bombarded with questions and they give earnest answers.
To make things interesting, Rubina is rejected and Abhinav is selected by the trio.
Jasmin Bhasin, Nishant Malkhani, Shehzad Deol, Sara Gurpal, Jaan Sanu, Pavitra Punia and Rahul Vaidya then take the stage.
Nishant, Sara and Jaan join Rubina get rejected while the rest enter the house.
The grand premiere episode had a run time of over three hours and while it was refreshing to see Salman back on screen, the episode was just too lengthy. It was hard to enjoy it after a point.
Also, not all contestants managed to make an impression.
Eijaz, Nikki, Pavitra and Rubina seem like the strong contenders this season, the rest will have to pull up their socks to stand out.
The first day on Bigg Boss 14 was fun, as everyone started settling in their new home.
The rejected celebs have to stay in the lawn area until the Bigg Boss announces otherwise.
Sidharth, Hina and Gauahar plan how to bring out the competitiveness amongst the contestants and try to make their life difficult inside the house.
Hina is in charge of the BB Mall and the other luxury amenities, Sidharth is in charge of the bedroom area and Gauahar has the kitchen area.
Nikki and Shehzad are the first to get into an argument.
Hina takes advantage of the situation and asks Shehzad to reveal two things about Nikki he doesn't like, if he wants something from the BB mall.
Nikki also gets into a heated argument with Jasmin Bhasin.
The latter gets upset when the south actress refuses to help in cleaning the dishes, as she doesn’t want her nails to break.
While Nikki seems to be ruffling a few feathers inside the house, she seems to be getting along with Eijaz. Quite, interesting, as both have contrasting personalities.
Later in the show, Radhe Maa makes an appearance and that's absolutely hilarious.
Sidharth, especially, makes the segment super fun with his sarcastic one-liners.
The new season of Bigg Boss, with all the twists and some interesting contestants, promises a lot of entertainment.
