This is why we love watching Sallu on Bigg Boss!
Irreverent. Fun. Flirtatious. Bindaas. Charismatic. Controversial. And undeniably entertaining.
It’s easy to see what makes Salman Khan such a perfect host of the reality show, Bigg Boss.
He has been hosting the show for the last four and a half seasons (he co-hosted with Sanjay Dutt once).
Whether he trifles with the pretty young players, admonishes the troublemakers or picks favourites, Salman is the undisputed draw of Bigg Boss.
But with the ongoing season receiving a month’s extension, Khan has no choice but to withdraw due to his prior work commitments. Friend and Bigg Boss fan Farah Khan will replace him.
Like it or not, Bigg Boss is inconceivable without Weekend Ka Vaar Salman Ke Saath.
Here's recalling the superstar’s Top 10 moments on the show:
Ek Tha Tiger!
Every time Salman blows his lid, TRPs soar.
And while his verbal battering of Kushal Tandon and Karishma Tanna may have divided viewers, the episode where he put season 6’s most notorious participant Imam Siddiqui (for claiming to create the likes of Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan) in place is truly badass.
“Shah Rukh Khan ko Shah Rukh Khan ooparwale ne banaya hai,” he roared in defence of his friend turned frenemy.
Salman Khan ribbing Katrina Kaif
Ever the imp, Salman both shook a leg and pulled it, when former girlfriend Katrina Kaif came on his show to promote Tees Maar Khan.
From joking about working with younger heroes like Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan to turning a mock translator, the superstar was at his naughty best.
Dil toh bachcha hai ji…
One of the recurring characters in Bigg Boss is the burly Jallad. What makes the deadpan guy’s presence fun is Salman’s childlike urge to get a reaction out of him.
On one spontaneous occasion, the Kick star tickled him only to burst into giggles himself.
Elli-ho!
It’s not just Salman, who teases contestants about flirting every now and then.
The Bigg Boss team was only too happy to highlight the star turn a shade of crimson when his dear friend Elli Avram sang the title track of his movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in her phirang accent.
Andaz Apne Salman Ka
There’s no shortage of camaraderie every time a famous star enters Bigg Boss sets to interact with Salman.
And the manner in which he and Shahid Kapoor (taking off on Aamir Khan) brought the entire house down dancing to Agal Bagal (Phata Poster Nikhla Hero) and recreating Amar-Prem’s hilarious bus banter from Andaz Apna Apna is alone well worth the watch.
Biwi Ho To Aisi
Few people can leave Salman tongue-tied. Timeless diva Rekha accomplished just that when she revealed the truth about a knee-high Salman Khan, how he’d follow her around and told his folks he wants to marry the actress when he grows up.
“Shayad isliye abhi tak meri shaadi nahi hui,” he quipped.
Being Human
It’s not just the housemates who reveal a little bit of themselves but its star host too.
Whether it’s sharing snoring anecdotes about co-star Shah Rukh Khan while filming Karan Arjun, shaving off his hair for Tere Naam or his audition scene for Maine Pyaar Kiya, it’s wonderful to see the human being behind the actor.
Sangram FM
That priceless expression on Salman’s face when wrestler Sangram Singh croons Time of My Life and the cackling laughter that follows, you remember?
Hud, Hud, Da-bangg!
During season five, Salman Khan went inside the house and gave each contestant a dressing down, worth many wolf whistles. Our man sat in their midst and called Pooja Mishra ‘irritating,’ Amar Upadhyay ‘spineless,’ Siddharth Bharadwaj ‘errant’ and Akashdeep aka Sky ‘delusional.'
Punz in boots
Is ghar ke andar bheegi billi nahi, bheega billa hai,” reveals Salman and goes on to share a video clip that shows Puneet ‘Punz’ Issar transformation from a thundering typhoon to trembling whimper.
All this time the clip plays, Salman collapses in peals of hysterical, side-splitting laughter confessing, “Yeh mera paanchva season hai. Isse funny clip aaj tak kabhi nahi aaye."
