A Chandigarh court has issued a notice to the model-cum-actress for allegedly violating a contract with the National Institute of Fashion Design. The organisation has filed a Rs 10 million recovery suit against Katrina.

The NIFD was to hold a show in Nagpur on September 10. According to the suit, Katrina sent them a fax message on September 1 saying she would not be able to participate at the show.
Katrina retorts, "I have not received any summons from anyone. Let me set the record straight. I had informed the organisers about 16 days in advance that I would not be able to make it to the show. They could have easily hired another model in that time. They are just using my name to gain publicity. That is all. I am planning to file a defamation suit against them."
The lawsuit also states that NIFD had sent Katrina a cheque worth Rs 35,000 and arranged for her to fly to Nagpur.
But was there any contract? Says Katrina, "There was no contract. It was a verbal commitment. I had made it clear to them in advance that I would not be able to make it."
As for her film career, it is learnt that Katrina is no longer part of the Telugu film Maheshwari, which stars Venkatesh. Katrina was reportedly asked to leave because she could not familiarise herself with the language.
When asked, Katrina says, "I did get a lot of offers from the south. This [Maheshwari] was one of them. But I was very clear I didn't want to do films there now. My career [in films] is just taking shape. I have a very interesting set of films. I want to concentrate here [Bollywood] first."
She adds, "I don't know where you heard this. Why don't you check with the producers? I did not commit myself to doing the film."
Katrina says she is now concentrating on her modelling career and does not plan to work on any more films at the moment.
Her debut film, Boom, directed by Kaizad Gustad and costarring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaaved Jafferi, Gulshan Grover, Madhu Sapre and Padma Lakshmi, is scheduled to release soon.
