Meet the real stars who went all out to make a fashion statement this year.

The Met Gala held at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is considered the 'Oscars of fashion' for a reason.

While every year, the celebrated attendees -- which include actors, models, singers, producers and who's who from the entertainment and glamour industry --  try their best to keep up with the theme, few manage to get it right.

This year's theme -- Camp: Notes On Fashion -- is inspired from American writer-activist Susan Sontag's 1964 essay 'Notes on Camp' which talks about self love, 'love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.'

While we did miss Rihanna of course, here are just some who made the event worth its while.

It was a delight to watch her pull out a black umbrella and pose on the stairs.

She soon brought out a clunky phone from Maxwell’s collection to use as a prop as she continued to entertain the audience.

The pink and gold 'Haus of Gaga' carriage had clear luggage cases from designer Maxwell's Spring 2019 collection, accessories including a hairbrush and sunglasses, cowboy hats and a black phone from the '90s. Photograph: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

IMAGE: Singer Cardi B's red feathered gown took 2,000 hours and 35 people to make. But the result is stunning, as you can see.
Made from silk organza and tulle, the outfit features 30,000 burned and dyed coque feathers.   Photograph: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images (left) and Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

IMAGE: Former pop sensation Celine Dion confessed that she'd almost got the theme wrong this year. 'I thought everyone was going to be sleeping together,' she joked in an interview to Cut
The 51 year old left little to imagination as she bared her nude innerwear underneath her sparkling silver dress.

IMAGE: Katy Perry truly lit up the pink carpet as she turned into a chandelier.
The singer-entrepreneur wore an embellished Moschino dress that featured numerous crystals and candles. It was brave to see her balance a smaller chandelier as a headgear. Photograph: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

IMAGE: Jennifer Lopez made a jaw dropping entry in a silver fringe dress designed by Versace's longtime tailor Luigi Massi who passed away in early April 2019.
It was a fitting tribute to Massi to wear it to one of the most celebrated fashion events in the world.  Photograph: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

IMAGE: Among the men, Michael Uri experimented his look, as he appropriately blended a tulle gown and a printed tuxedo designed by Christian Siriano.
He even painted his face and wore nude heels to match the outfit.
Quite daring, we think!  Photograph: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

IMAGE: Broadway producer Jordan Roth was quite thrilled to flaunt his outfit which initially looked like a cocoon.
When opened, it resembled the inside of a theatre. Simply wow!  Photograph: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images
