Ashish Narsale/Rediff.com is impressed with how the Realme XT combines premium features with an affordable price.
Realme, known for its budget phones, has been disrupting the market by launching value-for-money phones almost every month now.
The Realme XT packs in all the features you would desire -- like the AMOLED display, in-display fingerprint scanner, quad camera setup, fast charging, full screen display and glass body -- at a starting price of just Rs 15,999 for 4GB ROM + 64GB RAM.
Display and design
The phone has a 6.4" Super AMOLED, FHD+ (2340 x 1080 pixel) resolution and a full screen display with a 91.9 per cent screen to body ratio.
The screen has a dew drop notch at the top for the front selfie camera.
Both the display and the back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The in-display finger print lies at the front bottom of the screen.
The phone is available in pearl white and pearl blue colours.
Hardware
The phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 712 System on Chip with Artificial Intelligence Engine.
It is built for processing AI tasks, better battery performance and 3D gaming.
The phone is available in three variants -- 4GB RAM+ 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM+ 64GB ROM and 8GB RAM+ 128GB ROM -- priced at RS 15,999, RS 16,999 and 18,999 respectively.
The storage can be expanded using a microSD card.
Camera
The Realme XT flaunts a quad camera setup at the rear.
The first camera is an 8MP, 119 degree ultra wide lens with an f/2.25 aperture for taking landscapes or capturing a group of people in a tight area situation.
The main camera, which has a 64MP Samsung GW1 image sensor, with an f/1.8 aperture is the highest MP sensor you can find in any budget phone currently in the Indian market.
The higher the mega pixels in the image sensor, the greater amount of details captured in the picture.
The third camera is a 2MP with an f/2.4 aperture for depth sensing, while capturing portrait shots with the main 64MP camera.
It is used to creating the background blur or the bokeh in the portrait photo.
The last one -- the macro camera -- is the latest addition to the world of mobile photography; it has a 2MP sensor with the lens having an f/2.4 aperture. You can use this to shoot photos from as close as 4 cm.
If you are using this camera, don't expect finely detailed photos.
The front selfie is a 16MP shooter.
Sound
The phone retains the 3.5mm audio port, which I think is a plus point.
The sound output is supported by Dolby Atmos for a surround sound experience.
Battery
The Realme XT is embedded with a 4000mAh battery, which can be fast charged using VOOC 3.0 Flash charge technology by OPPO.
The company claims it can charge from zero to 52 per cent in 30 minutes.
A 20W Flash charge adapter is bundled in the box.
Verdict
With so many features packed at the given price, the Realme XT is a steal.
