England batsman Eoin Morgan was approved as a replacement for Kevin Pietersen at the World Cup by the International Cricket Council on Monday.
Pietersen was forced out of the tournament with a hernia, which needed immediate treatment.
Irish-born Morgan is a 24-year-old middle-order batsman and has played in 38 ODIs for England in which he has scored 1,160 runs at an average of 40. He was originally picked for England's squad but was forced out because of a broken finger.
Pietersen is the 14th player to be replaced in the tournament.
