Cricket Australia's medical staff on Friday confirmed that fast bowler Doug Bollinger will return to Australia from the ICC World Cup after sustaining a left ankle injury.
Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said, "Doug Bollinger has been experiencing increasing left ankle pain since arriving in India. Unfortunately, the pain is now significantly affecting his ability to bowl and he will not be playing any further part in the tournament.
"Doug will now return to Australia and seek specialist opinion to determine the best course of management for this injury."
Cricket Australia's National Selection Panel will decide on a replacement player in due course and this will be announced once approved by the ICC's technical committee.
