Lalit Modi guilty of 'misconduct, indiscipline'; banned for life by BCCI

The suspended IPL chief was banned for life by the BCCI on September 25.

At a Special General Meeting of the BCCI, a decision was made to disallow Modi, who is the president of Nagaur District Cricket Association, from participating in any activities involving the cricket board.

Senior Counsel Sudhir Gupta along with advocate  Akshat Tyagi had primarily argued on behalf of the Nagaur District Cricket Association that it is a District Level Sports Association and Rajasthan Cricket Association is a State Level Sports Association registered under the Rajasthan Sports (Registration, Recognition and Regulation of Association), Act, 2005 and the resolution  of the BCCI is in direct conflict with provisions of the Rajasthan Sports (Registration, Recognition and Regulation of Association),  Act 2005.

After considering the arguments, Justice Raghuvendra Singh Rathore of the Rajasthan high court admitted the writ petition and issued notices to all the respondents and passed an interim order staying the BCCI resolution.
