Therefore, it's no surprise that the Indian batting sensation has managed to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record in the Indian Premier League record as captain.
Kohli became the first captain to score more than 500 runs in IPL in three different seasons and in doing so, he broke Tendulkar's record, who had achieved this feat twice as captain of Mumbai Indians.
The master-blaster amassed 618 runs in the 2010 edition and 553 runs in the 2011 edition of the IPL.
Kohli scored his second century of the season to complete 500 runs in IPL 2016. With this ton, Kohli also became the first captain to score two hundreds in a season.
Kohli has so far scored 541 runs in eight matches with an average of 90.16.
This was the fourth instance overall, Kohli has crossed the 500-run mark in the IPL. He had scored 634 runs in 2013, which is also the highest ever aggregate by a captain in the IPL, and 505 runs in 2015 edition as Royal Challengers Bangalore's captain.
