One of the most dangerous batsmen in contemporary cricket, Suresh Raina is now set to reveal one of his many hidden talents.

The Uttar Pradesh left-hander will make his singing debut for actor Zeishan Quadri’s directorial Bollywood debut Meeruthiyan Gangsters, scheduled for release on September 18.

"My elder brother, Naresh Sharma, is a singer; he sings religious songs. I want to give full credit to (music director) Siddhant (Madhav). I didn't do anything; it was he who did everything and made this possible.

“My wife (Priyanka), who, incidentally, is also from Meerut, was the one who encouraged me to sing for this movie," said Raina in Mumbai on Monday, at the launch of the movie’s music album.

He said his first brush with singing in public was at boarding school when he was forced to sing to avoid being ragged by his seniors.

"It was a good experience to sing for a movie. I remember when I was in boarding school and used to be ragged by seniors; that time I used to sing a few lines and get away from them," he added.

So what made him sign up for this movie?

"The producer, Shoeb Ahmed, is a family friend and insisted I sing for his film."

Music director Siddhant said that Raina could have a future in playback singing if he decides to take it up seriously.

"I am telling you he finished recording the song in much less time than a professional singer would. He definitely has a lot of talent when it comes to singing."

Still not convinced whether Raina can sing? Then check out his debut song in the video below.
