·        This match was the 2159th one-day international in cricket history.

·        This match was the 80th between India and Australia. The record now reads: Australia 49, India 27, abandoned 4, The other three abandoned matches between these two sides were all played in India – at Trivandrum on 01-10-1984, at Jamshedpur on 03-10-1984 and at Hyderabad on 24-09-1986.

·        India have now played in 24 abandoned games. The break-up: 7 v Sri Lanka; 4 v Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan; 2 v England and South Africa; and one v West Indies. Just for the record, India's 24 matches are the most abandoned matches played by any side in the history of ODIs. New Zealand, with 22 such matches, are placed second.

·        The match was the 68th abandoned match in ODI history where some play was possible including the WI-NZ match at Southampton on 08-07-2004.

·        The wicket of Darren Lehmann was Anil Kumble's 200th in 'away' matches. He became second Indian (after Javagal Srinath) and seventh bowler in the world to do so. Pakistan's Wasim Akram with 430 wickets from 289 games heads the table, followed by Waqar Younis (349 in 219); Muralitharan (255 in 162); Chaminda Vaas (240 in 177); Saqlain Mushtaq (234 in 141), Javagal Srinath (212 in 149) and Anil Kumble (200 in 171).

·        Kumble, by taking 171 matches, became the slowest to reach this landmark. Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas with 155 matches was the previous slowest. Kumble also bowled most deliveries and conceded most runs to gain entry in this exclusive club.

·        Irfan Pathan went wicketless in successive matches for first time in his ODI career.
