India's chances of reaching the Holland tri-series cricket final were severely dented after heavy rains forced their second limited overs match against Australia to be abandoned in Amstelveen on Monday.

The teams earned three points each following the downpour, which forced the umpires to call of the match with two balls remaining in the Australian innings.

After a four-and-half hour delayed start, Australia won the toss and elected to bat in the 32 overs-a-side match. They were 175 for seven in 31.4 overs when the covers came on.

The no-result left India with three points from two matches.

Australia, who also have three points, will play Pakistan in the final league match on Wednesday.

Pakistan, who beat India in the opening match on Saturday, have six points and are ensured of a berth in the final on August 28.
