Kamal Nath, Union minister for commerce and industry, was named FDI Personality of the Year 2007 by FDI magazine and Financial Times Business for his 'active efforts to attract foreign businesses to India, boost exports, and promote trade and investment'.
That was not all. Kamal Nath has worked tirelessly to keep at bay the developed nations' aggression at the World Trade Organisation negotiations. He has minced no words at international fora while putting forth India's viewpoint on world trade and the concessions that it needs to grow further.
He was instrumental in fine-tuning the Special Economic Zones Bill. He has also junked the Exim Policy and put in place a new Foreign Trade Policy 2004-2009.
