7. Saif Ali Khan

Gung-ho about playing a racecar driver, Siddharth Anand's disastrous Ta Ra Rum Pum showed that red overalls did not a racing superstar make. Saif and Rani bore the brunt of Yash Raj Films's first official turkey in years -- Neal N Nikki never counts -- yet the goodwill left over from his Omkara is enough to let this be a bygone.

Saif also got good notices with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya, despite not being in the titular role. The film was India's controversial entry to the Oscars, always a fact that looks good on an actor's CV. Saif also began work on his next, Tashan -- with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor -- which looks promising, from the opening promos.
