An Indian doctor blows up a truck at Glasgow airport and soon the Australian police stops another Indian-origin doctor trying to leave the country with a one-way ticket to India.
It turns out the two are related and the transcript of a chat conversation between the two is found. Also, it is alleged Mohammad Haneef had given a cell phone SIM card to the Glasgow bomber, his cousin Kafeel Ahmed.
This was enough to convince John Howard's government -- way behind the Opposition Labour party -- to play the terror card and allege that the detained doctor had a role in the conspiracy.
After high political drama and quiet, but forceful diplomacy from the Indian embassy in Canberra, Dr Haneef is allowed to leave for India, where he reunites with this family and newborn daughter who he sees for the first time.
