It was a Tuesday, July 11. Mumbai lay bleeding. Thousands had been cut off from their loved ones. Many did not know if their son, daughter, husband, wife, friend, relative, neighbour, acquaintance was part of the death toll ticking up. Many had not been able to get home.
In flew honourable member of Parliament, Sonia Gandhi, with the honourable railway minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, to condemn the blasts, even before the non-injured could get back home.
Condemned were those who were desperate to get home at the end of an evening of terror. Condemned was Mumbai -- to suffering more, to being crippled further.
The blood was still on the tracks.
A few days later, there was Narendra Modi, advocating Israel-esque ruthlessness, adding fuel to a potential Molotov cocktail of a situation.
Did any of the visits actually help the country? Or the city? Or those in the hospital? Or those getting on the public transport and wondering if it would be their last ride home?
What made you angry in 2006? Tell us!
